Cartographies of the Imagination
Cartographies of the Imagination names the contours and the expansive precisions that will braid together all of our projects between 2026-2029. Under the spiraling of galactic clusters, washed by the anonymous waves of the obscure and indistinct, and listening intently to the signatures of plants and the geo-semiotic tremors of stones, we will—with many partners in many places—compose new cartographies for emerging practices of the (non)human. We work toward our goals both tangibly and conceptually across the senses, feeling and thinking. Interweaving dance and theater, philosophy and literature, painting and project-based learning, we imagine our way forward, sometimes sluggishly and sometimes at the infinite speed of thought. Together, we will shape experiential and experimental maps, catalyzed by the expansive precisions of the imagination, through Mobile Assemblies and Ensembles of Innovation that differentially weave through people, places, and multiple ways of wayfaring.

This webinar with mini-workshop introduces Cartographies of the Imagination, a Wild Studios project to remap value, image, philosophy, and artistic research for a more flourishing future. Our discussion about Weathered Theatre, a mixed ability, multi-sensory performance & research project series focused on weather, story, and the plants, most recently enacted in Kerala, India,explores ways to engage in place-specific forms of imaginative ecological engagement.
Join us to co-create new maps of possible futures, new ways of being together, and new forms of thinking, feeling, and moving for the sake of a greater flourishing for all.

Cartographies of the Imagination: Catalysts for Change

We will go down rabbit-holes and through portals to explore practical strategies for catalyzing creative change. Situating ourselves in our particular sites of work and play, we will experiment with arts practices, ways of scoring the land, listen to everyday objects that speak to us, engage with RSVP cycles and miniature Maker-Spaces, and learn something about twists and turns. We will rehearse those prototypes of methods and strategies that most appeal to us as catalysts of change. Think diagonally, think in segments of linearity, think in zigzags.
